Classroom Rules
The Four Core Values (responsibility, respect, solutions, and service) will be the backbone of all classroom expectations and activities. Students will also be expected to follow the Code of Conduct outline by Carolina International School.
Below you will find our six classroom rules that the 5th grade team will be implementing, as well as a copy of the "Above the Line" behavior program we will be utilizing this year.
1. I believe in myself and my abilities to do my BEST!
2. I embrace challenges and mistakes because they help me learn.
3. I can learn. I will learn. I must learn.
4. Today I will listen, speak, read, and write.
5. I will work as a T.E.A.M. because together everyone achieves more.
6. I will be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.

Homework Policy
Homework is a crucial element to students retaining information covered in class. Our Math homework is a spiral review and will greatly prepare students for the content of the EOG. There will be a quiz each Friday to test the student's comprehension of the Math homework skills for that week. The quiz will be graded. Completed homework will earn classroom money.
Homework must be turned in on time or the following will occur:
- Students will pay a fine of $5 per day
- Students will be required to work during Power Hour instead of attending their club.
- Students will eat lunch in silence and may complete the assignment during lunch, or turn it in the following day.
If the behavior is consistent the student will be asked to write a letter to their parent explaining why the work is not being done, solutions for preventing it in the future, and consequences for the future if it is still not being turned in.
